Our team at Hetq Media Factory and our students are researching and “inventorying” small villages of Armenia. Our focus is on settlements with fewer than 100 residents, examining their geography, resources, infrastructure, daily life, and population trends. We are also exploring state programs designed to support these villages.

Syunik is the richest region of Armenia, both in socio-economic terms and in its number of small-population villages. A total of 58 villages are either uninhabited or have fewer than 100 residents.

The interactive map features video and photo stories from 20 villages in Syunik.
