The uncertain future of the forgotten villages of Vayots Dzor

The blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh prompted us to initiate research on Armenian villages with small populations. We tried to understand the following:

• The livelihood of Vayots Dzor villages with populations fewer than 100 or completely empty villages,
• Was the influx of displaced people from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia expected, and what arrangements were put in place for potential resettlement in the villages of Vayots Dzor?
• What is being done now to accommodate Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh in those villages?
• Are there development plans for villages with small populations, and what is the formula for reviving declining villages?
